Tarpon Springs February 2010

The club departed from Gulfport to Tarpon Springs for an overnight cruise.  $ boats attended.  We started out on a cold morning.  The trip was a bit nippy going although the sun was out and the sky clear.  Even with the low temps, the cruise was absolutely great.  Rarely have we come across the Gulf so calm.  The water conditions made the trip from the Dunnedin Causeway to the Anclote River that much more enjoyable.  The marina was sparse in amenities but very adequate for our needs.  Capt. Jacks was the destination for lunch, right here at the marina.  Great food and service.  Did I mention cold beer?

Most of the group headed to the sponge docks for a stroll and some shopping.  The rest of us met up and most had dinner at Hellas.  Great food and service.  Some of us hit the pastry shops for desert.  A pot of coffee was made and desert was enjoyed aboard "Mental Floss".

Sunday morning was considerable warmer than Saturday.  We departed back to Gulfport Municipal Marina.  Once again the water conditions were great.  Most of the group stopped at The Pub for lunch.  "Mental Floss couldn't as the restaurant was very busy and the only slips available were too small for her.  Mental Floss headed south and had a lunch at McDonalds.  Sammy enjoyed her Happy Meal.  "Malibu 1" split off and stayed at the Holiday Inn for the day and another day of boating.  The rest loaded up at Gulfport and the trailer ride home for all was uneventful.
