WAYS & MEANS - Joanne Cook, Chairperson
Joanne passed out the 2005 proposed budget. The actual 2004 figures are through October 2004 and the budget is based on 70 members. To date we only have 48 members so everyone is challenged to bring in a new member or two. If you sponsored someone last year that has not renewed, please give them a call and get them involved so they will feel part of the club.
CRUISES – Mike Hall, Cruise Master
Mike asked that anyone interested in leading a cruise this year to please contact him, 667-0921.
Dick Littrell reported we had an impromptu cruise to Mt Dora with 6 boats and 14 people. It was a great boating day and everyone had a good time. Dick also reported you are not allowed to sit on the back of any seats while cruising. He and Jackie were stopped and this was explained to them in detail. If you do not have a new book on rules of cruising, may want to get one and read up on all the new rules and regulations.
RED FLANNEL CRUISE – January 15 & 16 – John Valich reported we had 8 boats with 20 people and the cruise lived up to it’s name. Everyone gases up the boats and we left from Loves close to departure time, however Bill Barrett had to make a stop on the way as he forgot to gas the truck that pulls Grin N Barrett. Miss Via-agra stuck her toe in the water on Friday and decided it best to go back home and not make the trip. It was a cold and rainy Saturday and by the time we arrived in St Augustine everyone was ready to get off the boats. By the time we docked in St Augustine they had posted gale force winds of 40 mph. The three small boats had to stay fairly close to the larger boats for some protection however it was not much help with waves coming over the bows of even the cruisers. Congratulations to Derek and Lisa Camann. It was their first cruise with the club and we have assured them this is the worse we have ever seen while actually on the water. Lisa was a trouper and did get back on board Sunday for the return trip home. Sunday was a much better boating day and the only high waves were from several large cruisers we passed on the way back. Well done to all who embarked on this cruise, and here’s to a year of great cruises.
GASPARILLA CRUISE – January 29 – Mike reported 2 boats and 8 people made it over by boat for Gasparilla. 6 people attended the Gasparilla parade and the Saturday night festivities at Tampa Cruis-A-Cade. Tampa Cruise-A-Cade had attendance from Toho, Daytona Beach and Sarasota clubs. We had a good time and it was great to represent WHNC at the Cruis-A-Cade annual event. There was plenty of food and dancing, even had a pirate in attendance.
RIVERIA DUNES CRUISE – February 19 – Mike reported this will be a 1 day event but you are welcome to stay over on Saturday if you want to make your reservations. The launch location will be determined that morning and will depend on weather conditions in the bay. Plan to depart from Bartow, behind Perkins, at 8:30. Perkins is located on Hwy60 across from the Old Bartow Ford. From Lakeland, Bartow Hwy, turn left on hwy 60 from Winter Haven, hwy 17 turn right on hwy 60. Please give Mike a call if you are interested in going on the cruise. If you want to call for dockage or rooms, please call the Resort at 941-723-9595, or go to their web site, www.rdmarina.com for information.
Dick Littrell reported the March cruise to Titusville has to be changed as there are no slips available. We will probably go to Sarasota and move the Titusville cruise to later in the year. More information at the March meeting.

The iron ons are $2.50 and there are many different designs. Please contact the Ruddys for more information, 421-7463.

NEW BUSINESS: Mavra announced the audit was good with only a few suggestions. It was also announced that Swift Mud was back out and inspected the shoreline and everything is good.
