CRUISES – Mike Hall, Cruise Master
Mike asked that you contact him, 667-0921, if you are interested in leading a cruise.
HONTOON ISLAND CRUISE – September 24 & 25 – Bill Barrett reported there were 8 boats for this cruise with some going on Friday, some on Saturday and 1 group joining on Sunday. Grin ‘N’ Barrett lead part of the cruise with Killin’ Time leading to the springs. After everyone arrived at Hontoon Island on Saturday the group piled into several boats and cruised to Blue Springs for swimming. There was plenty to eat as always and Dinner at Shady Oaks, a short cruise away. It was great to have the Lamberts and Butlers join the cruise this year!! Sunday after the Toy and crew joined the group it was off to Silver Glen for more swimming and lunch on the boats. As always for this cruise there was a community breakfast prepared with the usual over abundance of bacon! No one should ever go away hungry on this cruise. Somewhere during the trip Frankie Via made a determination not to go into the water in the normal matter and fell OFF the boat!! A good time for all and a good trip for all types of boat! FYI, Bill Barrett was without his first mate on the cruise and still managed to get everything ready to go and to load Grin ‘N’ Barrett for the trip home. Margaret, does this mean you don’t have to do all the work any more?
CALADESI ISLAND CRUISE – October 1 & 2– Mike Hall reported the cruise left from Williams Park and was expected to cross the bay, however the First Mate, Nancy, on Double Nickel made a decision the bay it was too rough so they changed directions and cruised over by way of the Intercoastal Waterway. There were 4 boats and 8 people. Once they made it to Caladesi Island some went to the beach, some visited and all grilled dinner outdoors in the evening. Grin ‘N’ Barrett lead the cruise back on Sunday across the bay. Special note, Nancy Hall backed the trailer down for Mike to load Double Nickel and did a great job!!!
MT DORA CRUISE – October 23 – Bill Barrett is the cruise leader for this cruise. We will leave Love’s Truck Stop at 8:30am. This is a good cruise for all size/type boats so if you have not been on a cruise recently, join us for the day. We normally eat lunch in Mt Dora but you can pack a picnic lunch if you like. We will leave from Hickory Point to cruise over to Mt Dora. Please give Bill Barrett, 965-7629 a call if you plan to go so he knows not to leave without you.
ST AUGUSTINE CRUISE – November 26 and 27 This is our yearly trip to St Augustine and is a great trip. Bill Barrett is our cruise leader. We will leave Love’s Truck Stop, I4 and Hwy 559 at 7am on Saturday. There are some wanting to cruise up on Friday so please contract Bill, 965-7629 if you plan to go and let him know which day you will be going. Those leaving on Friday will probably leave about noon. If you need a hotel room, please call the Marion Hotel, 904-829-2261 for reservations. Bill will need to know by the November 2nd meeting to make slip reservations so please don’t delay, let him know who is going, the name and size of your boat and if you plan on leaving Friday or Saturday.
Cruise to Hutchinson Island is being planned for New Year’s weekend, if you are interested please let me know, Becky – 863-968-0338. I have 10 slips reserved but no rooms at this time, with 6 of the slips spoken for. I will be contacting those going for boat and credit card information to secure our slips.
Alaska in 2006 - If you are interested in going on a cruise to and train trip into the interior of Alaska please contact, Becky Smith. I am working up a cruise for July or August flying into either Seattle or Vancouver, cruising to Alaska. There are several options and I’m working with a Cruise Planner to see what I can put together for the club.
Remember if you do not have a boat, but would like to ride along on a cruise, contact the cruise leader for a ride.
The cruise committee has completed the proposed schedule for next year and we will discuss this at the November Planning Meeting.

Loretta will have flyers and the cost of the candles at the November membership meeting. The sale will run for two weeks and orders should be back by the December meeting, or the Christmas Party at the latest.
